Co Create Durban

The original #cocreatemycity is a half year long 3 step program in which multidisciplinary groups of students in co-creation with local municipality and businesses, work on tangible solutions for urban challenges designated by a city. The most promising and innovative teams will be implementing their solutions in newly formed partnerships, making a real impact on a city.

The program is already running with in cities like Durban, Delft and Johannesburg and we hope to bring it other cities as soon as possible!

With the help of design thinking tools, we will search for challenges in the city (in certain themes like: water, energy, health, education, food, sports etc.) which aren’t being solved at the moment and which could offer a business opportunity for newly co-designed societal enterprises. Based on these challenges we will ideate, validate and test different solutions in a hackathon style set-up resulting into for example an investor pitch decks. During a big closing event at the end of the hackathon, we will challenge the necessary stakeholders, to become a shareholder in piloting this solution and to start doing business together.
